Privacy Policy
What personal information Sports Gold Guard collects on this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can control it.
This policy covers sportsgoldguard.com. FansPulse has its own privacy policy, available inside the FansPulse app and at fanspulse.social. This document is a template prepared for review by a licensed attorney before launch.
Who we are
Sports Gold Guard LLC (“SGG”, “we”, “us”) is a Texas limited liability company. We publish this website and act as the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us at [email protected] or through our contact page.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: first name, last name, email address, mobile phone number, the topic you choose, your message, and the contact choices you make (with the date and the wording you agreed to).
- SGG Brief newsletter: your email address, the page where you signed up and the dates you signed up and confirmed.
- SGG Premium purchases: your name, email address, mobile phone number, country and ZIP code, account password (stored hashed), order history and your contact choices. Stripe collects your card details directly; we receive only the card brand, last four digits and expiry date.
- Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.
Information we collect automatically
- Server logs: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the referring page and the time. Our hosting provider keeps these logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Abuse prevention: when you submit a form, we store a one-way hash of your IP address and keep a short-lived counter to block spam and repeated submissions.
- Cookies: we set a cookie that remembers your privacy choices. With your permission, we may also use analytics and marketing cookies. Our Cookie Policy lists each one.
We do not collect precise geolocation, biometric data or government identifiers on this website. This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
How we use information
- To answer your messages, news tips, partnership requests and support questions.
- To send the SGG Brief after you confirm your subscription, and to stop sending it when you unsubscribe.
- To sell, bill and renew SGG Premium memberships, send receipts and account emails, give members access to premium content, and prevent payment fraud.
- To keep the website secure, prevent spam and fix errors.
- With your consent, to measure which stories readers find useful and to measure marketing campaigns.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our legal bases are: your consent (newsletter, analytics and marketing cookies), our legitimate interests in running and securing the site and answering messages, and compliance with legal obligations.
How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers that host the website, deliver email (Brevo) and, if you consent, provide analytics. They process data on our instructions under written contracts.
- Stripe, our payment processor. See Payments and Stripe below.
- Messaging providers that deliver our emails and, when we text or call you, our text and voice messages. They use your contact details only to deliver our messages.
- Authorities when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of SGG, our readers or others.
- A buyer or successor if SGG takes part in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Live score widgets load scores and team logos straight from ESPN’s servers in your browser. ESPN receives your IP address and basic browser details when the widgets load, the same as when you visit any website. These requests set no cookies, and we never send ESPN your name or email. Our news wire shows headline images that load straight from each publisher’s server, so that publisher receives your IP address and basic browser details when the image loads; we send them nothing else. Links to other publishers in our news wire open their websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Payments and Stripe
Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates (“Stripe”) process SGG Premium payments for us. You enter your card details in a secure Stripe form on our checkout page, so your card number goes straight to Stripe and never reaches our servers. Stripe stores your card to charge monthly renewals and is certified to the PCI DSS Level 1 standard.
To take a payment, we share with Stripe your name, email address, country, ZIP code, the amount and your order number. Stripe collects your card details and information about your device and connection to process the payment, detect fraud (including through Stripe Radar) and meet its legal duties. Stripe acts as an independent controller for some of this data, such as fraud prevention and its own legal compliance, as its Privacy Policy explains. From Stripe we receive the card brand, last four digits, expiry date, the billing country and ZIP code, and whether each charge succeeded.
Stripe sets cookies on the checkout page to keep payments secure; our Cookie Policy lists them. If you choose to save your details with Link, Stripe’s checkout service, Stripe handles that information under its own terms.
Calls, texts and email
When you send us a message through our contact form or buy SGG Premium, you agree that Sports Gold Guard may contact you by email, phone call and text message (SMS) at the email address and phone number you provide. We use this only for your request, your account, your orders, renewals and billing. You must agree to this to use the contact form or check out, because we need a way to answer you and to reach you about your account.
Marketing calls and texts are separate. We send news, offers and SGG Premium promotions by phone or text only if you tick the optional marketing box, and agreeing to them is never a condition of buying or getting support. These messages may use automated technology. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
We keep a record of each choice: the date and time, the wording you agreed to and where you agreed. To stop texts, reply STOP to any text; reply HELP for help. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email. To stop calls or change any choice, email [email protected]. We will still send messages the law requires or that you need for an active subscription, such as receipts.
We do not sell or share your mobile number or your text message consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Selling and sharing personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow marketing cookies, some advertising partners may receive information about your visit, which certain state laws treat as a “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page or with the Cookie settings link in the footer. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including Texas (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act), California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon and other states, and the EEA and UK, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information you provided or we collected about you.
- Opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal information and profiling.
- Withdraw consent you previously gave.
- Appeal our decision on your request.
To make a request, email [email protected] or use the contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We will verify your request by confirming control of the email address involved. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide written permission from you. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need an extension the law allows.
If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy appeal”. We will answer your appeal within 60 days. If you remain unsatisfied, you may contact the Texas Attorney General or your state attorney general. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
How long we keep information
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last reply, unless a message concerns a legal claim.
- Newsletter records: while you stay subscribed, plus 12 months after you unsubscribe so we can honor the unsubscribe.
- Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups: deleted after 30 days.
- Server logs and abuse counters: up to 90 days.
- Order, billing and subscription records: 7 years after the transaction, for tax and accounting law.
- Records of your contact choices: for as long as we may contact you, plus 5 years, so we can show what you agreed to.
- Your member account: until you ask us to delete it, except records we must keep by law.
- Your cookie choice: 12 months, after which we ask again.
Security
We use HTTPS, access controls, limited administrator accounts, login attempt limits and regular software updates. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
International visitors
We operate in the United States and store data with US-based providers. If you visit from outside the US, your information will travel to and be processed in the US. Where the law requires, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved transfer mechanism.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates here and change the “Last updated” date. If we make a material change, we will post a notice on the home page and email newsletter subscribers.
